Quote From Long Ago

I once read this quote in a book when I was still a teenager. It meant alot to me, it still does because it is just so true...

„If I am I, because you are you
And you are you, because I am I
Then I am not, and you are not
But if I am I, because I am I
And you are you, because you are you
Then I am, and you are″

What it clearly comes down to is that you can't be considered as a person in your own right if you are the way you are because of someone else or their actions or treatment towards you.
